Don't Ask Too Many Questions Of Your New Man, Your Best Friends, Your Friend's De Facto....
Day 180 of The Andie Chronicles
The front door clicked, and I could hear James returning. It must have been early; the sun wasn't up yet. But I had been long asleep in Cooper's arms.
We eventually fell asleep, holding each other, naked under the covers, unable to let go. It was only after he had caressed, licked, and kissed every inch of my naked body.
At one point, I was convinced I couldn't hold my bladder, but I didn't want to let him go. I didn't know how long he would be here or what this surprise visit meant, but in the meantime, I didn't want to question it.
Or, in my mind, jinx it by asking too many questions.
As I heard James moving about the house, I slipped from Cooper's arm, found my dressing gown in the dark and exited my bedroom. I didn't want to wake my sleeping champion or bring any attention to the fact he was here.
I wasn't ready for the two parts of my life to meet. It was a collision I didn't have the emotional reconciliation for just yet.
Creeping into the hallway, I noticed James wasn't in his room yet. He was in the kitchen, filling the coffee machine with fresh water from the tap.
"Morning, love," I whispered in a hushed tone. I couldn't keep it up, though. It would giveaway to James that someone else was here.
"Hey babe, you want coffee?"
"Nah, not just yet. How was it at Barbie's?"
"The usual. Talking about the case. She's worried about me. I told her not to. Rinse and repeat."
A mother being worried about her son was nothing new. But I had to agree with Barbie. James' situation was unique and challenging. Dealing with money and the opinions of relatives, well, it always gets ugly.
"Are you heading to work soon?"
I looked at the clock in my kitchen, which read quarter to seven. "Yeah, I will shower soon. Do you want to come with me? GG is picking me up."
"Sure, that would be great." I went to turn away but then paused at the thought.
"GG is getting you? She's coming from Taylors?"
It wouldn't make sense for GG to drive all the way back from South Yarra to Camberwell and then back to the city. It was double backing over the same parts of Melbourne.
"No, she's across the road. At her place." And she's not at Taylor's?
Slipping back into bed with Cooper, he stirred as I returned my body to his. He went to speak, but I quickly interjected. "Cooper, don't say anything. James is home."
He looked at me and nodded. "Ahh, gotcha," he whispered.
I didn't need to tell him I wasn't ready for him to meet my friends. In a way, Cooper wasn't prepared either. He knew everything about them; his thoughts of them were already somewhat tarnished. I didn't know how long he would be here either, and I couldn't afford to share a single second of him with anyone else.
"When James gets in the shower, you leave. Is that ok?" I didn't need to ask. Cooper nodded profusely.
"How about I get us a room in the city? You can come straight from work?"
I beamed with joy. "I would love that."
