So it’s the week before Christmas, and it’s going to be a big week for me. This is the first year I’m hosting Christmas with my husband.
On Christmas Eve, our brand new house will fill with my family and their joyous spirit. You know, the one where we all laugh at each other, tell funny stories, eat a lot and roll ourselves out the door after way too much food. It’s almost predictably wonderful.
But I’m freakin’ stressed out about it.
Well, I exaggerate. I’m not that stressed out about it. I just want to do it right and have a few days off before I have to start cooking.
And completely converting our house into a Christmas wonderland. That’s why this will be the last post for 2022.
I’m saying goodnight a little early and I wanted to let you know.
I also believe we all need a moment at the end of the year to work out what we want. I’m not into the symbolism of turning over a new leaf come the first of January.
You can’t magically transform yourself in twenty-four hours. It’s not like you go to bed and as suddenly as the date changes, you have a whole new lease on life.
If only it were that easy.
But I can tell you I’ve used the last couple of weeks, and will continue using the next couple, to push and pull with changes I want to make to 1LD.
Well, not changes, improvements.
Enhancements.
Bringing it to the life I’ve always wanted it to be. Making it the way I can see it in my head.
I’ve been working on getting what is in my head onto paper first. I often keep ideas bundled up in my head and don’t put them to paper where they deserve to be.
Or need to be, depending on who you ask.
Yet, 1LD means so much to me. I want to make sure I give it everything I have in me and do what I can to make it the best possible.
If that means doing something different that I know can help, why not?
As a parting gift for the holidays, I wanted to share a little preview of what’s to come in 2023. Sharing this with you means I hope you will let me know what else you would like to see.
And share what makes sense with you. I’ve never really sought any feedback on my ideas, so yours would be invaluable to me!
What’s coming in 1LD for next year:
More chats on Substack — This year, Substack has added a feature to their app where you can host chats, like on Twitter. But better and more targeted. I haven’t used this chat feature much for 1LD yet. That is going to change. I’m so fascinated with this chat feature I can’t wait to see what we can talk about on 1LD.
More exclusive content for Substack — 1LD on Substack is an exclusive hub for everything that goes on. The problem is that I haven’t been making it exclusive enough or bringing more bonus content to the people who’ve signed up for it. I want to change that and make sure Substack is brimming with extra fun.
More videos for articles — On Medium, you can listen to the articles. But I want to make sure those who love more visual content than written have their fill too. I love watching videos. And whilst I’ve worked pretty hard to get TikTok up and running, I want to make sure long-form videos make it to Substack too.
Behind the scenes — 1LD is a world, but so much happens in the Jellyverse to get it there. If you’re up for it, I want to share with you more of what’s to come, how I create 1LD, and show you the life that inspired the characters and stories. I hope it brings more context to the world and helps you feel more connected, too. I appreciate I don’t communicate with you enough. I want to change that.
More exclusive content — I want to make sure the people who support 1LD and love the world they’re entering get more of the good stuff. I’m planning to add bonus stories and character profiles to all my platforms. Each one will have slightly differing bonuses but Substack will be the only place with every single bonus. I’m also going to be adding previews of upcoming content. I’m hoping you will love the bonuses!
Well, it’s not long before it will be 2023, so I want to wish you a very safe holiday. And I hope you get a little break before the chaos starts all over again.
