Another meeting into my calendar without asking. What the hell is with people in this office?
They won’t speak to me walking past them, and they barely make eye contact with me. But when they need something, I have to drop everything and come running.
And on a Saturday?
I understand we’re in the corporate world, but I wasn’t high up enough or getting paid enough to work weekends.
Not especially since I was being browbeaten into a job I hated, simply because I didn’t want to see my dream completely slip through my fingers.
Before opening the meeting on my calendar, I thought about what I had planned for Saturday. Working on my takeover of the fashion business we were building, Highway.
James told me he was staying the night with his mother, Barbie, and I had the house to myself.
I was glad he told me; it was the first time in a while he let me in on his plans. And staying with Barbie was a good thing.
A good influence.
Someone to help him stay grounded when I couldn’t, or when he wouldn’t let me.
I was trying to do what Barbie asked of me, but it wasn’t always easy. How do you help someone who isn’t around? How do you adjust your life when you can't find the person you're meant to be around?
I clicked on the meeting invitation and studied the request. It was for 7 pm at Yugen Dining. It was for me and Douglas, the two of us, no one else included on the email.
The restaurant was not too far from his place, and Taylor’s for that matter. I had never been there before, but it was one GG often insisted we go to.
She said it was romantic, intimate, sexy.
Not exactly where I wanted to go for a meeting, nor an appropriate venue for two exes to conduct business.
The notes on the meeting were clear. A car would pick me up from my house at 1 Lovelock Drive and take me to dinner. The car would transport me back home at my convenience.
It was all so formal, regimented, and unromantic considering the locale.
And considering there were only two invitees, myself and Douglas, I really didn’t want to go. What was this? Some sort of twisted date?
Had he seen me in my new fashions and decided to rebuke the break-up? What about his supposed girlfriend, Annabella? How had I forgotten her in all of this?
She would hate him taking a meeting with me, on a Saturday night, in a romantic restaurant. Perhaps I should message her on Instagram and tell her what her man has organised.
Taking myself immediately into Douglas’ office, I interrupted him in a meeting with Angela, his secretary.
“Dinner?!” I asked, cutting her off mid-sentence. “Dinner? Just the two of us?”
He grinned. “Yup, don’t be late.”

Or the day after that.
Or the day after that, too.
Everything started to unravel when her BFFs got into bed with her ex, too… ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️
