Surprise Visitors Are Romantic Bliss, Especially When They're Not Your Ex
Day 179 of The Andie Chronicles
James sent me a text after I left the office.
‘Staying at Barbie's tonight. See you in the morning before work.’
It was a rare moment in our somewhat new living arrangement and friendship; he told me where he was and what he was up to.
Like the way best friends did.
Like the way normal housemates did.
Lately, I felt like I was dying. My friends were unusually kind, overly communicative, not assholes like they had been for months. I could only assume the guilt of catching them bitching about me finally triggered some sense of remorse inside of them.
And to my surprise, there were leftovers in the fridge with my name on them. A bowl of pasta James had left explicitly for me from last night's dinner. I placed it in the microwave, and as I was about to enter the cooking time, I heard a pounding knock on the front door.
A lump formed in my throat. The sound of the knock, repetition after I didn't immediately answer, made me think of one man's fist taking to the wood frame.
It was Douglas; instead of coming to my office to flirt and tell me off, he again invaded my personal space.
I let go of the latch on the door and swung it open. I was ready with a short greeting, telling him to fuck off and never come here again. And in my mind, I was figuring out how to move houses so Douglas could never find me.
Yet, as I brought the door toward me, I let out a small breath, a gasp of joy, as I fell into Cooper's arms.
"Oh my god, you're here, you're here. Oh my god."
His arms wrapped around my waist as our bodies embraced, my arms flinging around his neck and becoming entwined with his long tresses. He smelt incredible, just as I had remembered. He held me close to him before pulling me away, just enough room for our lips to meet and for him to take me as his.
"Is this ok?" he asked as we continued to kiss. "This is more than ok."
It was everything I wanted, I realised to myself. I was missing him. My body was pleading for him.
"Give me more," I pleaded, still in his arms. He let me go, for only a moment, enough time to bring him inside, shut the door and take him to my bedroom. Without words, without any negotiation, he stripped me bare and took my body onto my bed with his.
An hour passed before I even managed to ask him anything else about his surprise visit.
Even then, the questions didn't last long before he proved how much he missed me again.
